Principal Product Designer

Job Description

Demand.io is a startup studio and decentralized e-commerce network - we own and operate leading properties such as SimplyCodes (simplycodes.com), the first truly community-powered couponing utility, driven by community and blockchain, Knoji (knoji.com), our popular legacy shopping discussion platform undergoing a re-imagination as a decentralized shopping community with shared incentives, and Vector (vector.xyz, in development), an upcoming web3 music discovery service focused on creative collaboration and co-monetization between musicians and visual creatives.

We’re looking for a passionate, talented, artistic yet analytical Principal Product Designer to join us as our head of design reporting to our VP of Product. This will be a crucial lead design role as you’ll set the direction, vision and lead execution for UI / UX design across our portfolio of apps and new services in incubation. In this role, you’ll face a broad range of strategic design challenges spanning tokenized community design, gamification, crowdsourcing, digital asset e-commerce and social shopping patterns across web, mobile, extension and voice interaction points. You’ll have significant autonomy to ideate and create and deliver end-to-end design frameworks and systems to solve high-level, strategic user problems and product goals.

Responsibilities

  • As a media lab, Demand.io will offer a unique range of leadership, vision setting and execution challenges. You'll lead design strategy, vision and execution for products running at scale such as SimplyCodes and Knoji. You'll conduct design inception exercises and prototype / iterate greenfield concepts such as Vector.xyz and Favely.
  • You'll lead design from discovery to implementation across key problem spaces for our different apps (AI-enabled e-commerce, creator tools, gamified experiences amplified by blockchain, cross-platform shopping utilities spanning web to mobile app to browser extension to chat / conversational).
  • You'll transform complex product challenges into well-articulated, intuitive user journeys that shape a clear path for our users to their goals.
  • You'll design new product concepts and rapidly prototype to field test with end users. Set the bar high for design quality while helping the product team ship features with pace.
  • You'll develop and guide design standards for overall experience — far beyond visual — and collaborate with engineering to apply these at scale.
  • You'll contribute to and maintain our design system in an effort to influence quality and efficiency of our product development.
  • You'll seek the voice of our end customers through continuous research and testing, informing the product roadmap. Lead design sprints to generate diverse ideas from stakeholders and expedite decision making.
  • You'll build a deep understanding of our different properties and their respective customers, tailoring the brand voice and experience to each.

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as a product or experience designer. Design leadership experience for major, complex product launches is a strong plus.
  • Outstanding UX capabilities and strong visual design competency working in mobile-centric environments.
  • Experience conducting user research is preferred, strong familiarity with research methods and their application is required.
  • A track record of shipping phenomenal consumer-facing experiences → extending across different platforms including web, iOS, Android and browser extensions.
  • Proficient in Figma, Sketch, InVision Studio/DSM and other design tools.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills when communicating design to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to blend user, business and technical considerations into comprehensive design solutions.
  • Self-starter attitude with ambition to grow. Looking for an environment where you can do your best work and be inspired by those around you.
  • UX writing and/or interaction design experience a plus but not required.
