Anthropic is expanding its government and national security partnerships and is hiring technical talent to support these critical initiatives.
The Applied AI team at Anthropic partners with government agencies and national security programs to integrate Claude into mission-critical operations. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical advisor for one or more national security customers, working embedded with their teams to drive successful adoption of Claude across the full lifecycle from initial evaluation through production deployment.
What you'll do
- Act as the trusted technical specialist for national security mission programs, managing the journey from discovery and technical evaluation through deployment, with significant time working on-site in secure government facilities
- Guide customers in building with Claude Code, the Claude API, and Claude for Enterprise, translating their mission requirements into concrete technical solutions
- Design and build customized pilots, prototypes, and evaluation frameworks that demonstrate Claude's capabilities for mission-specific use cases and help shape technical architecture decisions
- Partner with account teams and internal Anthropic engineers to integrate Claude into customers' existing systems and infrastructure
- Deliver technical content ranging from hands-on code reviews and engineering workshops with customer teams to executive-level briefings on capabilities and strategy
- Stay current with advances in large language model capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI product development tools, then share insights back to Anthropic's product and engineering teams
- Help identify recurring design patterns and best practices that can improve future customer engagements
What you'll bring
- An active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
- Direct experience working in US intelligence community agencies as either a government civilian or cleared contractor
- At least four years in technical roles such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Product Engineer, Software Engineer, or Technical Product Manager, with proven ability to work closely with customers
- Strong programming capabilities in Python or TypeScript, with demonstrated experience shipping production applications
- Deep technical expertise in at least one of these domains: offensive or defensive cyber operations, cryptography and cryptanalysis, intelligence analysis and ISR, mission and weapons systems, CBRN and nonproliferation, or accreditation of classified systems
- Exceptional ability to explain technical concepts to audiences ranging from engineers to senior leaders, combined with strong collaboration skills and intellectual humility
Nice to have
- Hands-on production experience with large language models, including prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale
- Experience operating software in air-gapped or classified environments
- Background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science
- Demonstrated skill navigating ambiguity and solving complex problems with simple, creative solutions
What they offer
- Annual compensation of 280,000 to 320,000 USD
- Visa sponsorship available for qualified candidates
- Hybrid work arrangement with expectation of office presence at least 25% of the time, though specific roles may require more on-site time
