Policy Communications Manager, Responsible Scaling, Security, and Governance

What you'll do

• Develop and execute communications strategies covering AI security, governance, and responsible scaling initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups
• Lead external communications about Anthropic's corporate governance structures, including the Long-Term Benefit Trust and public benefit corporation status, and explain how these provide oversight and accountability
• Partner with security, product, legal, governance, and policy teams to communicate approaches to building safe AI systems as capabilities expand into sensitive areas like cybersecurity
• Manage media relations and reactive communications on complex security and governance topics, responding with accuracy and sound judgment under tight deadlines
• Create proactive communications around emerging regulatory frameworks and transparency obligations, translating government requirements into clear external messaging
• Prepare executives for media interviews and public speaking opportunities, developing thought leadership that positions company leaders as credible voices on AI security and responsible development
• Produce written materials including blog posts, statements, and talking points that explain complex technical and governance topics accessibly while maintaining accuracy

What you'll bring

• Deep experience in policy communications, including managing communications around complex security or governance matters
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical subjects accurately for diverse audiences
• Proven track record in issues management and developing reactive communications under pressure and compressed timelines
• Executive management capabilities and demonstrated ability to work across technical and non-technical teams seamlessly
• Established relationships with journalists and influencers covering security, corporate governance, and technology
• Results-oriented, high-agency approach with flexibility and focus on impact
• Comfort navigating new terrain where technology evolves rapidly and traditional communications approaches may not apply
• Genuine commitment to ensuring transformative AI systems develop safely

Nice to have

• Eight or more years of policy communications experience, ideally at a high-growth technology company
• Background communicating about corporate governance, regulatory affairs, or novel institutional structures
• Existing relationships with security, governance, and tech policy reporters and influencers

What they offer

• Annual salary range of 265,000 to 295,000 USD
