About the role
Finance Manager, DaaS
Snorkel AI is a frontier AI data lab founded from the Stanford AI Lab in 2019. The company helps teams build the datasets and environments that power high-performing AI systems by combining research-driven data development with technology to deliver custom solutions for enterprise and leading AI labs. Snorkel partners with organizations globally to turn better data into better AI outcomes.
This role sits within the Finance Operations team and reports directly to the Senior Director of Finance. You will serve as the financial partner to Snorkel's Data-as-a-Service business, driving the insights that shape critical decisions around pricing, delivery costs, capacity planning and revenue growth. This is not about producing reports: it is about translating financial data into clear recommendations that leadership can act on with confidence.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain the DaaS revenue model including bookings, acceptance-based revenue and ARR at the deal level, with scenario planning to support quarterly and annual operating plans; partner with RevOps on weekly revenue forecasts and lead the weekly forecast review for leadership.
- Reconcile field forecasts against deal-by-deal finance views, quantify coverage and identify execution risks in delivery pacing and customer acceptance.
- Own the delivery capacity model in partnership with Delivery Ops, tracking utilization, project mix, headcount allocation and cost to deliver; reconcile capacity plans with actual staffing and flag hiring needs ahead of quarters.
- Translate pipeline bookings into staffing demand and lead regular capacity planning reviews with Delivery leadership.
- Surface actionable trends in pricing, product mix, margin and pacing; partner with Deal Desk on deal economics, review pricing templates for accuracy and recommend margin improvements.
- Calculate customer and product profitability by analyzing cost to deliver against revenue; identify broken processes and drive fixes that improve data quality and cycle time.
- Automate recurring financial models, moving from spreadsheets to scalable auditable tools; support board and investor materials for the DaaS business.
What you'll bring
- Five to eight years in FP&A, product finance, deal desk or strategic finance, with at least two years in a high-growth technology company.
- Hands-on ownership of a revenue forecast and pricing or unit-economics model, not just review responsibility.
- Deep understanding of gross margin versus contribution margin, cost-to-serve and how pricing, discounting and incentives flow through both; experience with services or labor-based delivery economics including utilization and headcount per project.
- Expert-level modeling in Google Sheets or Excel with working SQL knowledge; comfortable extracting data from CRM systems and data warehouses.
- Ability to communicate complex financial insights in clear, concise summaries that leadership can act on immediately.
- Comfort making reasoned decisions with incomplete data, stating your assumptions clearly and refining them as facts emerge.
- A process mindset: you spot friction, propose simpler approaches and drive adoption rather than working around problems.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering or a related field.
Nice to have
- Background in services-heavy, usage-based or manufacturing business models.
What they offer
- Full-time position based in San Francisco, California.
- Opportunity to scale financial operations for a rapidly growing frontier AI company working with leading labs and enterprises.
Pay, location & hours
Salary not listed. Based in San Francisco, CA.
