Financial Controller

The company runs large-scale conferences and community experiences while managing a complex, fast-moving financial operation. As Financial Controller based in Hong Kong, you'll be the steward of all financial operations—reporting, treasury, crypto assets, and sponsorship revenue—working directly with leadership to maintain financial discipline and governance in a high-growth environment.

Your Day-to-Day

You'll own the complete financial reporting cycle: monthly close procedures, P&L and balance sheet preparation, cashflow analysis, and variance reporting against budget. Reconciliation is core to your role—you'll manage balance sheet integrity, oversee ledger accuracy, and drive external audits and tax filings. On the treasury side, you monitor daily cash positions across multiple bank accounts, forecast short-term liquidity needs (payroll, vendor payments, event expenses), and execute FX conversions while maintaining tight payment controls. You'll manage custody accounts on platforms like Coinbase and Anchorage, reconcile on-chain crypto transactions against accounting records, and coordinate fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-fiat movements with full compliance oversight. Sponsorship revenue flows through your oversight too—ensuring contract accuracy, tracking collections, and monitoring receivables aging. Finally, you'll steward Token2049's financial systems ecosystem: Xero for the general ledger, crypto subledgers, and revenue tracking systems, identifying opportunities to automate reconciliations and strengthen process controls.

What You Bring

You have 8 to 10+ years of accounting and finance experience, including at least 2-3 years in-house or startup roles within Web3 or fintech. You're a qualified CPA with Big 4 background. You're technically strong in accounting standards, reconciliation workflows, and multi-currency treasury operations. You have hands-on experience managing digital assets and crypto environments. You thrive in startups or high-growth settings, bring a structured and detail-oriented mindset, and are comfortable rolling up your sleeves on operational finance. English fluency is essential; Cantonese fluency is a plus. You're ready to move immediately and work full-time from Hong Kong.
