Member of Technical Staff, Backend

The team is expanding its engineering capabilities to support the next wave of AI-powered applications that need intelligent document understanding and data processing at their core.

LlamaIndex's backend platform team is looking for an experienced backend engineer with at least four years of professional experience. You'll take ownership of building new features and scaling the systems that power LlamaIndex's ingestion and AI capabilities, working with a team that values both technical excellence and rapid iteration.

What you'll do

• Build and ship new product features for our backend platform, taking features from conception through production at scale
• Develop and scale our core APIs using Python, Node.js, Kubernetes, Terraform, Postgres, Temporal and related technologies
• Collaborate directly with customers and prospects to design and implement production solutions tailored to their needs
• Work closely with the team to incorporate customer feedback into the product roadmap and help guide feature development
• Maintain and improve systems designed to handle significant scale and reliability demands

What you'll bring

• Four or more years of backend engineering experience with a track record of shipping complete features from prototype to production
• Proven ability to work at scale and deliver solutions that serve real users and enterprises
• Familiarity with or genuine interest in AI and LLM-native applications
• Strong collaboration skills and comfort iterating rapidly based on user feedback and customer needs
• Ability to translate customer requirements into engineering solutions and contribute to product strategy
