About the role

About Rain

Rain is the global stablecoin payments platform serving enterprises, neobanks, platforms, developers, and AI agents. The company provides infrastructure for moving, storing, and using stablecoins instantly and compliantly through payment cards, rewards, onramps, offramps, wallets, and cross-border rails. As a Visa and Mastercard Principal Member, Rain issues cards accepted at more than 175 million merchant locations across over 220 countries and territories. The platform is trusted by more than 100 organizations worldwide and has built native stablecoin capabilities into secure, scalable infrastructure that enables fast global money movement.

Rain closed a $250M Series C in January 2026 led by ICONIQ Capital, reaching a $1.95B valuation. The funding round included participation from Sapphire Ventures, Dragonfly, Bessemer Venture Partners, Galaxy Ventures, FirstMark, Lightspeed, Norwest, and Endeavor Catalyst. The company operates with a flat structure where team members at all levels have freedom to explore ideas and shape the company roadmap and vision.

About This Role

You will lead the product strategy for Rain's Agent Control Layer, the governing surface that enforces approved counterparties, amounts, merchants, and task scope for agentic transactions before they occur. This is a 0-to-1 role creating primitives in a category being defined in real time. McKinsey projects $3–$5 trillion in global agentic commerce by 2030, and the foundational controls that make it trustworthy have not yet been built. You will report to the Head of Product and work daily with engineering, risk and compliance, network partnerships, and developers building on Rain's infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Define the primitives for agent authority including spend scopes, merchant and counterparty allowlists, velocity and amount ceilings, task-bound credentials, human-in-the-loop approvals, and revocation mechanisms.
  • Own scoped virtual cards for agents that are provisioned for a single merchant, amount, and task, then automatically retired upon task completion.
  • Extend Rain's full stack (wallets, virtual accounts, onramps, offramps, cross-border payments) to accommodate agent initiators within customer-defined parameters.
  • Treat the API as the product itself, owning endpoint design, error semantics, idempotency, webhooks, sandbox and simulation tooling, SDKs, and reference agent implementations.
  • Own documentation and the developer onboarding path with the same rigor as the core product, measuring success by time to first authorized agent transaction.
  • Run a tight design-partner loop with agent builders by reading their integration code, participating in debugging sessions, and shipping against what you learn.
  • Build the roadmap from first principles, forming a thesis on where agentic commerce evolves, sequencing bets accordingly, and quickly terminating what isn't working.
  • Partner with risk and compliance on Know Your Agent including agent identity, attestation, delegated authority, auditability, and dispute handling when the cardholder was not the transaction initiator.

What you'll bring

  • 8+ years in product management with substantial experience on developer-facing platforms, APIs, or infrastructure products where you shipped something engineers chose to build on.
  • Technical depth: you read API diffs, write your own queries, prototype against your own endpoints, and hold your own in architecture reviews. You need not have been an engineer, but engineers must take you seriously.
  • 0-to-1 instincts from taking products from conception to real usage in ambiguous markets, comfortable with roadmaps that shift as conditions change.
  • Payments or fintech fluency, or demonstrated ability to acquire it rapidly. You understand authorization flows, issuing, interchange, chargebacks, settlement, and KYC/KYB.
  • Judgment under risk: you can reason explicitly about the tradeoff between capability and loss in every control you design and defend your decisions.
  • Strong writing ability. At Rain, specs, docs, and launch narratives are the core work, not secondary tasks.
  • Bias for motion and shipping narrow products this month to learn versus scoping broad initiatives for multiple quarters.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience building or deploying AI agents including tool use, orchestration frameworks, MCP, or evals.
  • Stablecoin or onchain payments background in settlement, custody, treasury operations, or wallet infrastructure.
  • Direct work with card networks, issuing processors, or sponsor banks.
  • Time at an early-stage company during rapid scaling periods.

What they offer

  • Unlimited time off with a 10-day annual minimum requirement.
  • Flexible work arrangements allowing you to work from home, office, or hybrid depending on where you're most productive.
  • Hybrid position based in New York, NY.

Pay, location & hours

$200K–250K / year. Based in New York, NY (Hybrid).
