About the role
Quicknode operates cloud infrastructure serving the blockchain ecosystem. The company powers billions of daily requests across 80+ blockchain networks, providing institutional-grade services like Core RPC APIs, Streams, Webhooks, and Clusters. Backed by Tiger Global, Y Combinator, SoftBank, and other top-tier investors, Quicknode maintains a team of over 110 engineers split between remote work and offices in Fort Lauderdale and Lisbon.
You'll join the Build team as a Senior Software Engineer focused on the distributed systems that ingest, process, and serve blockchain data at massive scale. This is a hands-on role combining individual contribution with technical leadership—no direct reports, but plenty of opportunity to mentor, set standards, and grow toward Staff or Principal Engineer positions.
What you'll do
- Design and build high-throughput, low-latency backend services and data-processing systems in both Go and Rust that power production blockchain infrastructure.
- Own complete ownership of production systems from architecture and implementation through testing, deployment, observability, and incident response.
- Architect distributed systems handling blockchain data ingestion, processing, validation, and serving with strong consistency, fault tolerance, and availability guarantees.
- Profile production systems to identify bottlenecks, then improve throughput, latency, resource efficiency, and resilience under load.
- Assess security risks in blockchain and distributed components, design controls protecting transactions and data integrity.
- Debug complex failures across services, databases, streaming systems, and blockchain nodes, driving durable fixes.
- Lead design and code reviews, mentor other engineers, document architectural decisions, and establish engineering standards adopted across teams.
What you'll bring
- 8+ years shipping and operating backend or distributed systems in high-scale production environments.
- Advanced proficiency in both Go and Rust—both are required, not interchangeable. You need demonstrated experience running production software in each language.
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, algorithms, concurrency models, memory safety, databases, networking, operating systems, and production architecture.
- Track record delivering reliable, scalable systems with measurable improvements in performance, availability, or developer experience.
- Experience with blockchain infrastructure, high-throughput APIs, RPC infrastructure, or data-streaming pipelines.
- Applied expertise in secure design, threat modeling, and testing for systems where correctness is critical.
- Strong communication, sound judgment, and ability to lead cross-team projects independently.
Nice to have
- Experience with Ethereum, Solana, or other major blockchain protocols and their node or RPC architecture.
- Experience designing clean interfaces between Go services and Rust components.
- Familiarity with cryptographic, wallet, or custody systems.
- Experience with Kafka, event-driven services, distributed databases, or large-scale observability.
- Demonstrated technical leadership through architecture ownership or incident leadership.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation with individualized discussion based on your requirements and experience.
- Full-time remote position based in the United States.
- Benefits designed to be employee-centric across all operating locations.
Pay, location & hours
$171K–214K / year. Fully remote, open to applicants in United States. Working hours: Americas overlap.
