Backend Engineer (Java) -Trading

Binance operates the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, serving over 300 million users across 100+ countries. The platform is known for its security standards, fast trading engine, and deep liquidity. As a backend engineer on the Know Your Customer Technology Team, you'll help build and maintain the large-scale KYC platform that powers customer onboarding across the globe while ensuring compliance with regional and international regulations.

The Know Your Customer Technology Team focuses on creating seamless onboarding experiences at massive scale. You'll work with cutting-edge compliance technology, AI and ML integration, and vendor partnerships that span multiple regions. This is a remote role based in Asia, perfect for someone ready to work across time zones with a distributed engineering organization.

What you'll do

• Convert business requirements into well-tested, production-grade services by collaborating with stakeholders across the organization
• Own performance optimization and incident troubleshooting, proactively identifying and fixing bottlenecks
• Build high-quality code that follows engineering best practices and contributes to a culture of excellence
• Document technical systems thoroughly so knowledge is accessible to the broader team
• Support and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with teams across multiple time zones

What you'll bring

• At least 4 years building high-throughput distributed systems in production environments
• Strong proficiency in core Java and the Spring Framework
• Hands-on experience with MySQL and at least one NoSQL database
• Deep understanding of distributed system design, messaging middleware, and their underlying principles
• Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese for coordination with international stakeholders and partners
• Ability to learn quickly and perform effectively under pressure

Nice to have

• Experience tuning performance on JVM, SQL, and RPC layers
• Previous work in KYC, compliance, or fintech environments
