The team's flagship product, Keet, demonstrates the practical applications of P2P technology for secure communications while maintaining user control over personal data. Keet runs on the open-source Pear runtime, eliminating traditional server dependencies and enabling direct application deployment from developer to user.

This role focuses on developing and maintaining Keet Desktop, a cross-platform P2P communications application built with React. You'll contribute across the full spectrum of frontend work, from implementing user interfaces to optimizing performance and ensuring the application runs reliably on the Pear runtime. Your work will directly shape how users interact with decentralized communication tools.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain Keet Desktop using React and TypeScript, working on both user interface implementation and performance optimization
• Build modular, testable code that scales reliably in production environments
• Manage application state using Redux, Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or comparable frameworks
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of complex frontend applications to identify and resolve issues
• Collaborate with a distributed global team to deliver features that advance peer-to-peer communication technology

What you'll bring

• Production-level experience with React or Preact and modern JavaScript or TypeScript
• Expertise in state management solutions like Redux, Redux Toolkit, or Zustand
• Ability to write maintainable code with strong testing practices
• Demonstrated skill in testing and debugging sophisticated frontend systems
• Genuine interest in peer-to-peer technologies or distributed systems architecture
• Effective communication skills and comfort working across time zones in a fully remote environment

Nice to have

• Background developing desktop applications with Electron, Tauri, or similar runtimes
• Experience working with WebRTC, media streams, and real-time communication features
• Track record optimizing UI performance in areas like rendering and memory management
• Experience building applications across multiple platforms including macOS, Windows, and Linux
• Open source contributions, particularly in peer-to-peer or decentralized technology projects
