About the role
OKX is a global cryptocurrency exchange and wallet provider serving millions of retail traders and hundreds of institutional clients. The company operates with a mission to make crypto accessible while maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability through mechanisms like Proof of Reserves. OKX maintains offices worldwide and is known for its culture built on principles of community, integrity, and execution.
OKX is building out its compliance infrastructure during a period of rapid regulatory expansion in crypto. The company is hiring a Head of Tax Information Reporting to establish and lead the global tax reporting function across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory regimes.
This role involves designing and executing OKX's tax information reporting program across OECD Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF), EU DAC8 directive, amended Common Reporting Standard (CRS 2.0), FATCA, and US Form 1099-DA. You will manage annual reporting obligations across the EU, Brazil, and other CARF jurisdictions for a large global user base across multiple reporting entities.
What you'll do
- Oversee the complete tax reporting lifecycle for all entities in scope, including user population definition, self-certification coverage, data extraction and reconciliation, file production, quality assurance, filing, corrections, and tax authority responses
- Create and maintain the data specification that feeds the tax reporting platform vendor, working with Product and Data Engineering to build and validate the data pipeline
- Design and operate a rigorous QA framework that reconciles all files to source data, validates against OECD XML schemas and local variants, tests self-certification controls, and performs cross-entity consistency checks
- Own vendor management responsibilities including contract scope, delivery timelines, testing cycles, output validation, and annual renewal decisions
- Establish group reporting policy for OKX, interpreting regulatory requirements around reportable crypto-assets, unhosted wallet transfers, staking income, payment thresholds, and tax identification number rules
- Design the global tax self-certification process integrated into user onboarding, including validation rules, refresh requirements, and remediation programs for existing users
- Build and lead a small, senior team while coordinating across local compliance leads, Product, Data Engineering, Finance Operations, Group Tax, Legal, and Data Privacy functions
- Maintain entity readiness tracking covering regulatory enactment, registration status, self-certification coverage, and filing deadlines, reporting weekly to the Chief Compliance Officer
What you'll bring
- Seven or more years of experience in tax information reporting, tax operations, or regulatory data reporting at a global exchange, broker, bank, fintech, or digital asset platform, including at least three years in a leadership role
- Practical experience working with digital asset transaction data across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions
- Strong technical data skills including SQL proficiency, ability to define data specifications for engineers, reconciliation of large transaction datasets, and hands-on experience building data quality controls
- Working knowledge of CARF, DAC8, CRS, and FATCA regulations; direct CARF or DAC8 implementation experience is strongly preferred given current obligations
- Experience managing or overseeing tax reporting vendors, including contract scoping, testing, and delivery timeline management
- Demonstrated ability to build a function from early stage, including policy development, control design, hiring, and executing first-cycle reporting
- Skill in communicating complex data and tax concepts to executives, engineers, and local compliance teams
- Comfort working across US, EU, and Asia time zones with a proven track record of meeting critical filing deadlines
What they offer
- Full-time remote position based in EMEA regions with flexibility for US or EU locations; some travel to OKX offices may be required
Pay, location & hours
Salary not listed. Fully remote, open to applicants in Roles, EMEA. Working hours: Europe / Middle East overlap.
