Databricks has grown significantly as enterprises accelerate their data and AI initiatives. The company is expanding its Field Engineering team to meet growing customer demand for technical guidance on data architecture and implementation.
In this Solutions Architect role within Field Engineering, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers in your assigned territory. You will partner with Account Executives and customer technical teams—including architects, engineers, and operations staff—to design and validate scalable data architectures using the Databricks platform. Your work will span the entire sales lifecycle, from initial discovery through post-sale technical delivery, establishing yourself as a go-to resource for complex data infrastructure decisions.
What you'll do
- Work with Sales to develop account strategies that expand customer usage and unlock new use cases on the Databricks platform
- Design reference architectures and build proof-of-concept applications that demonstrate how Databricks solves specific customer challenges
- Consult on big data systems, data engineering pipelines, and machine learning projects to prove platform capabilities and validate third-party integrations
- Translate customer business requirements into technical solutions and secure stakeholder buy-in across all organizational levels
- Promote Databricks open-source projects including Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, and Koalas through community events, conferences, and technical forums
- Travel to customer sites in your region up to 30 percent of the time
What you'll bring
- At least 5 years of pre-sales, solutions architecture, or technical consulting experience focused on data platforms
- Deep expertise in one or more areas: big data systems like Spark or Hadoop, data warehousing and ETL tools, data science and machine learning frameworks, or data applications
- Proven ability to design, architect, and present data systems while managing delivery of production solutions
- Strong SQL proficiency and hands-on development experience in Python, Scala, Java, or R
- Track record translating complex business needs into technology solutions with support from stakeholders at all levels
Nice to have
- Experience building solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, or related quantitative field
What they offer
- Salary range of 164,500 to 224,000 CAD annually, with compensation varying based on experience, skills, certifications, and location
