Sr. AI Engineer, AI FDE

The AI Forward Deployed Engineering team at Databricks is a specialized group focused on delivering professional services to customers building next-generation AI applications. You will work directly with enterprise clients, alongside product and engineering teams, to architect and deploy production-grade generative AI solutions that solve real business problems.

What you'll do

• Design and build production-ready generative AI applications using current techniques including retrieval-augmented generation, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, and fine-tuning approaches

• Lead end-to-end deployments of consumer and internally-facing generative AI systems, handling evaluation, optimization, and scaling challenges

• Serve as a primary technical resource for customers across diverse industries, guiding strategic AI implementation decisions

• Establish thought leadership through conference presentations at venues such as Data + AI Summit

• Work with product and engineering leadership to shape platform priorities and influence the technical roadmap based on customer needs

What you'll bring

• Demonstrated expertise building production generative AI applications using tools like HuggingFace, LangChain, and DSPy

• Deep experience deploying and optimizing machine learning systems at scale on cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP

• Strong hands-on background in data science and machine learning, proficient with pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, and similar libraries

• Graduate degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Operations Research, or equivalent industry experience

• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders

• Drive to collaborate across teams, continuously learn, and align AI initiatives with business objectives

Nice to have

• Experience with the Databricks Intelligence Platform and Apache Spark for distributed data processing

• Familiarity with LLMOps and emerging trends in generative AI systems
