About the role

Baton is the product innovation division within Ryder, one of the largest transportation and logistics companies in North America. Operating with startup agility while leveraging Ryder's Fortune 500 scale, Baton develops intelligent software that helps manage over $10 billion in annual freight movement across the United States. The division serves tens of thousands of customers, from emerging businesses to globally recognized brands, enabling them to plan and execute supply chain operations with greater efficiency and cost control.

Since Ryder's acquisition of Baton in 2022, the team has maintained its entrepreneurial culture while gaining access to unprecedented market reach. Baton's vision centers on automating supply chain management at scale, creating technology that touches every segment of the American economy. The company combines rapid product development cycles with the infrastructure and resources of a publicly traded enterprise.

You'll lead Baton's recruiting function as Talent Lead, building and managing a growing recruiting team while personally owning a substantial portfolio of open positions. This hands-on people leadership role requires you to balance direct recruiting delivery with team development and scaling the hiring infrastructure that will support Baton's continued growth.

What you'll do

  • Own a significant number of technical and non-technical requisitions, leading full-cycle recruiting from initial intake through final offer and close, with emphasis on hire quality and long-term retention
  • Build targeted sourcing strategies and candidate pipelines for specialized and high-priority searches, partnering directly with hiring managers to align on profiles and assessment approaches
  • Develop and mentor recruiters, sourcers, and recruiting operations staff through clear goal-setting, regular coaching, feedback loops, and performance management cycles
  • Translate business hiring needs into recruiting priorities and roadmaps, creating visibility around ownership, progress, and potential bottlenecks for senior leadership
  • Implement and scale recruiting technology, including AI tools, to improve team workflows, hiring velocity, and overall process efficiency
  • Establish shared accountability for hiring outcomes across the organization, helping managers source talent through their networks and participate meaningfully in the recruiting process

What you'll bring

  • Eight to ten or more years of recruiting experience in startup or fast-paced technology environments, with at least three years leading and developing recruiting teams through multiple full performance cycles
  • Demonstrated success attracting and closing both technical and non-technical talent, including niche and high-priority roles, with measurable results in hire quality and retention rates
  • Recent hands-on experience managing a substantial requisition load, with sixty percent or more of your time spent actively recruiting, and a desire to continue recruiting while leading a team
  • Proficiency in recruiting analytics, forecasting, and using data to guide hiring decisions and process improvements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with hiring managers, adapt strategies based on feedback, and operate autonomously in ambiguous situations
  • Experience implementing and configuring modern recruiting technology platforms, comfortable adopting new tools to drive efficiency

Nice to have

  • Background in broader human resources and people operations functions
  • Experience scaling technology or innovation initiatives within larger organizations
  • Knowledge of freight, logistics, manufacturing, or operationally complex industries
  • Track record configuring and migrating recruiting tool stacks

What they offer

  • Annual base salary of two hundred thousand to two hundred fifty thousand dollars, plus annual performance bonus and long-term incentive plan
  • Hybrid schedule with in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday and remote flexibility on Monday and Friday at the Hayes Valley, San Francisco location
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, four hundred one-k matching, and employee stock purchase program offering fifteen percent discount to market value
  • Stable, publicly traded company environment with significant scale and resources supporting product innovation and team growth
