About the role
OpenAI is building safe artificial general intelligence with the potential to benefit all of humanity. The company develops and deploys AI systems designed to be powerful, safe, and aligned with human values. As part of the People team, you'll join OpenAI's recruiting function during a pivotal period of growth and organizational scaling.
This Business Recruiter position focuses on hiring for the APAC region, primarily supporting technical business roles within go-to-market and B2B organizations. You'll manage the full recruiting lifecycle for these critical positions while maintaining flexibility to support hiring across other teams as priorities shift. Based in Singapore on a hybrid schedule, you'll report directly to the APAC Recruiting Lead.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end hiring processes for APAC roles, from initial scoping and calibration through to offer closure and candidate onboarding.
- Work closely with senior business leaders to understand team needs, develop hiring strategies, and translate strategic priorities into structured talent acquisition plans.
- Build sourcing strategies using data and market insights to attract high-quality, diverse candidates across competitive regions.
- Partner with hiring managers as a strategic advisor, maintaining hiring standards and challenging assumptions when needed.
- Ensure every candidate interaction reflects OpenAI's values, creating a positive experience throughout the recruiting process.
- Collaborate with People, Legal, and Compensation teams to navigate complex global hiring requirements and ensure compliance across markets.
- Identify inefficiencies in recruiting workflows and implement scalable solutions to improve both quality and speed.
- Share market intelligence with stakeholders to inform talent strategy and hiring decisions.
What you'll bring
- Seven or more years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably in-house at fast-growing companies with high hiring standards.
- Proven success recruiting for business functions like Sales, Technical Success, RevOps, Partnerships, and User Operations, with exposure to technical hiring.
- Strong talent judgment; you can assess both current capabilities and future potential while consistently raising the bar.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate effectively in ambiguous situations.
- Execution focus: you manage multiple complex searches simultaneously without compromising quality.
- Experience building talent pipelines from scratch in competitive or emerging markets.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities across regions and cultural contexts.
- Structured, data-driven approach to recruiting decisions and process improvement.
- Familiarity with modern recruiting platforms such as Ashby or LinkedIn Recruiter, plus openness to adopting new tools and technologies.
