About the role
Blockdaemon powers infrastructure for the blockchain economy, serving exchanges, custodians, platforms, and financial institutions with a suite of integrated blockchain solutions. The company operates globally with ISO-27001 certification, 70+ points of presence across multiple cloud and bare metal providers, and maintains 24/7 institutional-grade support. As a fully distributed team, Blockdaemon combines technical depth with compliance rigor across one of the fastest-growing sectors in technology.
The Security team at Blockdaemon is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to own the multi-cloud foundation that underpins the company's infrastructure and security posture. This role sits at the intersection of reliability engineering and infrastructure security, requiring someone who can design, harden, and operate cloud environments across AWS, GCP, and Azure. You'll be responsible for the network layer, infrastructure as code, and the systems that control how traffic moves through and out of the company's production environments.
What you'll do
- Design, operate, and harden infrastructure across three major cloud providers, with accountability for reliability and security at scale
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible as the single source of truth for environment configuration and provisioning
- Architect and manage network security, including egress proxy setup, traffic segmentation, and outbound control across all cloud environments
- Manage the Cloudflare footprint covering DNS, WAF, edge security, and API gateway layer (Zuplo)
- Operate Tailscale as the zero trust network access layer, designing access policies and rolling them out to new environments
- Run production Kubernetes clusters (GKE) with security-first hardening, network policies, and secure deployment patterns
- Build observability dashboards in Grafana to surface network and infrastructure health, catching misconfigurations before they become incidents
- Harden CI/CD and deployment pipelines (GitHub, GitLab, ArgoCD) against infrastructure and supply chain security risks
- Carry on-call responsibility for infrastructure and network issues, leading blameless postmortems and implementing durable fixes rather than temporary patches
- Identify and eliminate manual infrastructure work through strategic automation
What you'll bring
- Five or more years of hands-on SRE, infrastructure, or platform engineering experience running production workloads across multiple cloud providers
- Deep expertise with SRE fundamentals: defining SLOs, measuring toil, conducting blameless postmortems, and using reliability metrics to guide priorities
- Proven competency across AWS, GCP, and Azure networking primitives including VPCs, peering, firewall rules, and load balancing
- Daily proficiency with infrastructure as code and configuration management, particularly Terraform and Ansible at an ownership level
- Solid background in network security, with hands-on experience designing or operating egress control and proxy systems for compliance and security
- Production Kubernetes experience with GKE, Helm, and GitOps patterns like ArgoCD
- Experience with Cloudflare or equivalent edge, CDN, or WAF platforms, plus familiarity with API gateway technologies
- Practical experience with Tailscale or comparable zero trust network access solutions
- Genuine on-call history with pager accountability, deep postmortem experience, and understanding of when to alert versus when to fix root causes
- Strong scripting and automation capability in Go or Python
Nice to have
- Experience with Kafka or similar streaming infrastructure for logs and telemetry
- Support for SOC 2 or comparable compliance programs, ideally with tools like Vanta
- Background in fintech, crypto, or other regulated industries where audit readiness and network controls are ongoing priorities
- Experience with Temporal or similar workflow orchestration platforms
What they offer
- Full-time employment based in Galway, Ireland
- Remote-first position within a globally distributed team
Pay, location & hours
