About the role
Anthropic is building safe, reliable, and steerable AI systems for beneficial impact. The company brings together researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders to advance AI safety and interpretability. As Anthropic expands through acquisitions and new subsidiaries, it needs a finance leader to orchestrate the integration playbook and keep its growing legal entity footprint running smoothly.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former members of OpenAI, including Dario and Daniela Amodei, to advance AI safety research and development. The company has grown into a significant player in the AI safety space, securing substantial funding and expanding its team across multiple locations. Anthropic combines deep technical expertise with thoughtful governance to ensure its AI systems remain aligned with human values and organizational mission.
This role is a build-and-run opportunity where you'll own the finance function's involvement in each M&A transaction and manage Anthropic's legal entity lifecycle across the US and internationally. You'll report to the Director, M&A Finance Integration and act as the day-to-day operator managing deal workflows, coordinate across Corporate Development, Legal, and People teams, and develop the processes and playbooks that scale Anthropic's acquisition and entity management.
What you'll do
- Scope and execute comprehensive finance integration plans for each transaction from letter of intent through Day 1 readiness and post-close execution, tailoring plans to full integration or standalone subsidiary models
- Run the integration operating rhythm including workstream check-ins, issue logs, risk registers, RACI matrices, and status reporting to leadership
- Drive Day 1 readiness across bank account control, payroll cutover, accounts payable and receivable continuity, ERP setup, cost centers, and chart-of-accounts mapping
- Build and maintain the end-to-end legal entity lifecycle program, covering formation, migration, and wind-down for acquired entities and subsidiaries across US and international jurisdictions
- Own and evolve the M&A Finance Integration Playbook and Legal Entity Playbook, incorporating learnings from each transaction and lead post-deal retrospectives
- Identify and implement tooling, automation, and AI-assisted solutions for status tracking, communications, and recurring program work
What you'll bring
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of at least two finance integration or entity setup projects from planning through post-close execution, including project plan ownership and executive reporting
- Working accounting fluency in close calendars, chart of accounts, intercompany accounting, statutory reporting, purchase accounting fundamentals, and common deal structures
- Strong program management capability to scope ambiguous work, own parallel workstreams, and drive to milestones with minimal oversight
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP in acquisition and migration contexts
- Credibility as a counterpart to Corporate Development, functional finance leaders, and target finance teams during transitions
- Ability to handle confidential deal information with discipline and mentor team members as the function grows
