Site Reliability Engineer - Low-Latency Trading Systems

Ondo Finance is building institutional-grade blockchain investment products and services, combining a technology platform for decentralized finance with an asset management arm that creates tokenized funds. The company operates at the forefront of onchain financial services for institutions, with a fully distributed team across the US.

Ondo Finance maintains real-time trading systems that operate continuously across traditional and cryptocurrency venues. The infrastructure combines low-latency Rust engines, Go-based services for trading and execution, and a multi-region Kubernetes deployment on AWS. The company is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer with deep systems programming expertise to drive reliability, observability, and performance across this mission-critical platform. You will work hands-on with Go and Rust codebases, troubleshoot latency issues in production, lead incident response during market hours, and automate operations for a 24/7 trading system alongside a focused team.

What you'll do

• Take ownership of production reliability for trading engines, execution gateways, market data ingestion pipelines, and PnL and reconciliation systems

• Operate and enhance multi-region EKS Kubernetes clusters on AWS deployed through GitOps using Flux and SOPS for secrets management

• Design and build observability infrastructure using Prometheus metrics and alerting, Datadog logging and dashboards, and SLOs that detect performance degradation before it impacts trading

• Debug end-to-end production incidents including feed staleness, rate limits, WebSocket failures, order synchronization problems, and latency regressions in the critical trading path

• Strengthen market data ingestion from providers like Databento and exchange-native feeds, implementing staleness detection, failover mechanisms, and replay capabilities

• Develop reconciliation and data integrity tools spanning live metrics, Postgres databases, and S3 parquet data lakes to ensure positions, fills, and profit-loss calculations remain consistent

• Participate in on-call rotation covering US equity market hours and around-the-clock crypto trading

What you'll bring

• Five or more years working as an SRE, production engineer, or infrastructure specialist with substantial experience supporting real-time or latency-sensitive systems

• Strong programming competency in Go or Rust with demonstrated ability to modify application code, not just infrastructure components

• Extensive hands-on experience running stateful and latency-sensitive workloads in production Kubernetes and AWS environments at scale

• Advanced observability expertise including PromQL fluency, structured logging analysis, and alert design focused on signal quality and noise reduction

• Solid understanding of Linux internals and networking fundamentals, with ability to trace performance regressions through the kernel, network interface, or garbage collector

• Composure under pressure and clear communication skills during incident response and postmortems

Nice to have

• Background operating trading systems, execution infrastructure, or market data infrastructure at trading firms, exchanges, or brokers

• Knowledge of market microstructure, order lifecycle concepts, order books, order types, fills, and reconciliation processes

• Experience with market data providers and protocols including Databento and equity and crypto venue APIs

• Python proficiency for operational scripting, data analysis using pandas, and parquet file handling

• GitOps workflow experience and infrastructure-as-code practices with secrets management
