About the role

Client Platform Engineer, ChromeOS

About Anthropic

Anthropic builds AI systems designed to be reliable, interpretable, and aligned with human values. The company focuses on creating safe and beneficial AI through a team of researchers, engineers, policy specialists, and business leaders collaborating on advanced AI development. As the field of AI continues to expand rapidly, Anthropic is scaling its operations to support this growth across multiple regions and work arrangements.

About the Role

The Endpoint team manages the computing devices and infrastructure that power Anthropic's workforce. Rather than treating devices as isolated units, the team operates the entire fleet as a unified platform where configuration updates flow through pull requests, continuous integration, staging environments, and controlled rollouts. The current fleet runs primarily on macOS, with expanding mobile and ChromeOS adoption. As Anthropic partners with more vendor and outsourcing teams globally, ChromeOS has become the standard platform for contractor access. This role gives you full ownership of the ChromeOS platform at Anthropic, from procurement and device enrollment through security policies, monitoring, and decommissioning. You will shape how ChromeOS operates across the company and make foundational platform decisions that affect thousands of devices worldwide.

What you'll do

  • Establish and maintain ChromeOS device standards, Google Admin console configuration, Chrome Enterprise policies, and organizational unit design that scales across multiple countries and vendor partners
  • Implement ChromeOS policy as code using the Chrome Policy API, GAM, and Terraform within the team's configuration pipeline, ensuring all changes are reviewed, tested, and progressively deployed
  • Build zero-touch enrollment workflows through resellers so Chromebooks arrive ready to use in every region where vendor partners operate
  • Design appropriate device models for different vendor team needs including kiosk mode, managed guest sessions, shared devices, and assigned user devices, then implement the right configuration for each program
  • Manage the complete device lifecycle for vendor fleets: enrollment, security hardening, ongoing monitoring, and final wipe and retrieval when engagements end
  • Integrate ChromeOS telemetry into the broader fleet monitoring system to track device check-ins, OS versions, and configuration drift
  • Collaborate with Corporate Security and the security team on hardware attestation standards, device trust signals, data loss prevention controls, and contractor access policies
  • Support Android as a second managed platform through Android Enterprise and zero-touch enrollment
  • Create documentation and runbooks for IT Operations and vendor partners launching new programs

What you'll bring

  • Hands-on experience managing ChromeOS at fleet scale (thousands of devices), with deep knowledge of Google Admin console, Chrome Enterprise, organizational unit design, device and user policies, enrollment workflows, and reporting
  • Proven success automating ChromeOS policy management using the Chrome Policy API, GAM, or similar infrastructure-as-code approaches
  • Background running specialized ChromeOS programs such as kiosk deployments, managed guest sessions, or shared device setups for frontline, contact center, or outsourced teams
  • Experience setting up zero-touch enrollment with resellers and shipping managed devices internationally across multiple countries and regions
  • Strong foundation in endpoint security concepts and familiarity with Android device management in mixed fleet environments
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous challenges that require coordination across multiple teams and communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences including non-technical vendor partners
  • Commitment to applying software engineering practices to IT infrastructure, including version control, CI/CD pipelines, and staged rollout methodologies
  • Comfort documenting systems and processes as part of your regular workflow

Nice to have

  • Experience managing device configuration through pull requests and CI systems with staged rollouts instead of console-based administration
  • History supporting business process outsourcing or vendor programs through rapid regional expansion
  • Familiarity with VDI or browser-based access models designed to keep company data off user devices
  • Python and shell scripting capability for automating operational tasks
  • Interest in leveraging AI tools like Claude to streamline operational workflows

What they offer

  • Annual salary between 325,000 and 360,000 USD
  • Full-time remote position with expectation of in-office presence at one of Anthropic's locations at least 25 percent of the time
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required; relevant background in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or related field expected

Pay, location & hours

$325K–360K / year. Fully remote, open to applicants in Boston, MA, Friendly, Travel-Required, San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA, New York City, NY, Washingto….
