Solidity Compiler Frontend Engineer

The Engineering team is hiring a Solidity Compiler Frontend Engineer to work on blockchain compiler infrastructure and formal verification tools. In this remote role based in the US, you'll develop and optimize the frontend layers of Solidity compilation pipelines, bridging security analysis with language design.

Your work will span several key areas

• Design and implement frontend compiler components including lexical analysis, parsing, AST generation, and semantic analysis for Solidity
• Optimize compiler performance while improving error reporting and diagnostic capabilities
• Build integration layers connecting the Solidity compiler with formal verification systems
• Partner with security researchers to implement static analysis and security checks
• Help evolve Solidity language features and specification
• Maintain and enhance existing compiler infrastructure and tooling

You'll need at least 3 years of professional experience with Solidity compiler development or related compiler projects for EVM-based languages. Strong Java proficiency is required, including deep knowledge of Java-based compiler development and optimization. Solid compiler theory fundamentals matter here—parsing techniques, type systems, and intermediate representations. You should have hands-on experience with formal methods or verification tools like SMT solvers or theorem provers, plus a strong grasp of the Ethereum Virtual Machine and smart contract execution models.

Nice to have

• LLVM or similar compiler infrastructure experience
• Knowledge of programming language semantics and type theory
• Open-source compiler project contributions
• Experience with Solidity or other blockchain languages
