The company operates as a fully remote organization with approximately 270 team members across 30+ countries, emphasizing asynchronous communication and thoughtful collaboration across time zones.

Circle is seeking two long-term contract translators to work on European Portuguese localization. You'll be responsible for translating software interface text and marketing content from English into natural, culturally appropriate European Portuguese. Your translations will ensure Circle delivers a consistent and locally relevant experience for Portuguese-speaking users worldwide. This remote contractor role involves minimal scheduled meetings, with most coordination happening asynchronously through Slack alongside the other Portuguese translator on the team.

What you'll do

• Translate software UI text from English into European Portuguese, maintaining meaning, clarity, tone, variables, and formatting requirements using key-based translation systems.
• Localize online marketing content into persuasive, natural European Portuguese tailored for the target audience.
• Apply Circle's translation guidelines, glossary, and style documentation consistently across all assignments.
• Utilize Circle-approved key-based translation tools and other designated systems, including approved AI-assisted solutions.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve quality-assurance issues flagged during linguistic reviews.
• Communicate your availability, turnaround times, and any delivery risks through asynchronous Slack updates.
• Coordinate with Circle and your fellow Portuguese translator to balance workload and ensure coverage continuity.

What you'll bring

• Professional experience translating software user interface content specifically into European Portuguese.
• Professional background translating online marketing materials into European Portuguese.
• Hands-on experience working with key-based translation and localization tools, not just document-based translation workflows.
• Native fluency in European Portuguese and strong English comprehension demonstrated through relevant professional work; Brazilian Portuguese variants are not the focus for this position.
• Ability to work independently while following detailed language guidance and making informed decisions with incomplete context.
• Willingness to engage in quality-assurance review cycles by investigating, documenting, and correcting identified issues.
• Advanced English communication skills (CEFR C2 or equivalent) both written and verbal, since collaboration at Circle is primarily asynchronous.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of online communities, creator-economy platforms, or tools used by content creators.
• Experience localizing products for SaaS, membership platforms, community software, or other digital services.
