About the role
Anthropic builds reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems with a focus on safety and benefiting society. The company's Applied AI team is expanding to help organizations across sectors deploy Claude effectively. The Beneficial Deployments division specifically works with nonprofits, foundations, and mission-driven organizations to bring AI to fields including education, global health, economic mobility, and life sciences.
Anthropic's Beneficial Deployments Life Sciences Community & Enablement team is seeking an Applied AI Architect to help scientists worldwide maximize Claude's potential for their research. You'll be the driving force behind activating the scientific community through programs, workshops, and hands-on enablement. Beyond external engagement, you'll equip Anthropic's internal teams with the knowledge and resources to support scientists independently, creating lasting infrastructure for scientific AI adoption.
What you'll do
- Own scientific enablement strategy end-to-end: design programs, create materials, deliver training, and measure whether research teams integrate Claude into their daily workflows.
- Lead major scientific activation initiatives such as LSVP and Claude for Researchers, setting program goals, designing frameworks, and executing at scale.
- Develop practical demos, notebooks, and tutorials showcasing frontier model capabilities for scientific work, and actively promote these resources across professional networks.
- Scale enablement throughout Anthropic by training Applied AI and Customer Success teams on scientific use cases and building reusable playbooks for ongoing support.
- Cultivate and ambassador a thriving community of scientists using Claude, from local meetups to major conferences.
- Represent scientists' needs internally, translating feedback into product requests and partnering with Marketing and Communications to ensure campaigns resonate with the research community.
What you'll bring
- Demonstrated expertise with AI tools for science, particularly Claude Science, including clear understanding of capabilities and limitations.
- Credible background as a working scientist, with hands-on experience in academic labs, biotech, pharmaceutical, or research settings, ideally having used similar tools yourself.
- Proven success helping multiple scientific teams adopt new tools through demonstrations, training sessions, workshops, or hackathon programs.
- Current knowledge of AI applications in science, including agentic analysis and AI co-scientists, with ability to communicate these concepts to active researchers.
- Hands-on coding experience building with large language model APIs, capable of prototyping functional demonstrations without requiring production-level engineering.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, creating talks, tutorials, and documentation that scientists find valuable.
- Track record moving programs or products from concept through measurable results, taking ownership of direction and outcomes in resource-constrained environments.
- Ability to operate effectively amid uncertainty, synthesizing clarity from ambiguous situations and adapting to multiple demands in service of the mission.
What they offer
- Annual salary range of 275,000 to 315,000 USD.
- Hybrid work arrangement with expectation of office presence at least 25% of the time across San Francisco or New York locations.
- Visa sponsorship support with retained immigration legal resources.
Nice to have
- Prior experience building or leading programs for scientific communities.
