The Managed Services team at Ripple is seeking a Senior Derivative Accountant to join their Treasury division in San Francisco. You'll be the technical expert on derivative instruments and hedging relationships, managing the complete accounting lifecycle for multiple client portfolios under both ASC 815 and IFRS 9 standards.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end derivative accounting across interest rate swaps, cross-currency swaps, FX forwards, options, and commodity derivatives for various clients.
- Prepare and review hedge documentation, designation memos, and formal effectiveness testing using both prospective and retrospective methods including regression analysis, dollar-offset, and hypothetical derivative techniques.
- Execute quantitative and qualitative effectiveness assessments and apply judgment on hedge accounting elections, fair value hedges, cash flow hedges, and net investment hedges.
- Prepare journal entries, financial statement disclosures, and respond to client questions about deliverables.
- Translate new FASB and IASB guidance into actionable summaries for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Lead audit support by preparing work product and engaging directly with external auditors on derivative matters.
- Strengthen internal methodologies, templates, and technical documentation.
What you'll bring
- CPA certification preferred; advanced degree in Accounting or Finance a plus.
- 5+ years of hands-on derivative and hedge accounting experience in public accounting, industry, or consulting.
- Deep technical knowledge of ASC 815 and IFRS 9, including practical hedge accounting elections and disclosure requirements.
- Expertise with fair value measurement under ASC 820 and IFRS 13, plus familiarity with derivative valuation methods.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously with strong organizational skills and deadline precision.
- Clear communication skills that translate complex accounting conclusions for non-technical audiences.
- Experience with hedge accounting platforms such as Ripple Treasury, Chatham Financial, Reval, or FIS Quantum is preferred.
