Staff Engineer, Public Cloud Operations

We're looking for a Staff Engineer in Public Cloud Operations to join our Singapore team and take ownership of our enterprise hybrid cloud infrastructure. You'll lead the full lifecycle of cloud operations across AWS and Alibaba Cloud, from architecture and deployment through to optimization and cost management, while ensuring the reliability and security our millions of users depend on.

What you'll do

• Plan, deploy, monitor, and maintain AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, and EKS alongside Alibaba Cloud equivalents like ECS, OSS, and ACK, managing 100+ instances at scale.

• Design highly available, auto-scaling architectures with optimized networking (AWS Direct Connect, Alibaba Cloud CEN), storage, and compute configurations.

• Implement full-stack monitoring and alerting using CloudWatch, CloudMonitor, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK to detect and respond to issues.

• Lead incident response for critical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures addressing resource contention, misconfigurations, and network problems.

• Analyze cloud resource usage and reduce costs through reserved instances, auto-scaling policies, and storage lifecycle management like S3 Intelligent-Tiering and OSS Archive.

• Establish resource quota management to prevent waste and enforce cloud security baselines including security groups, IAM policies, and regular vulnerability audits.

• Partner with development and security teams to optimize application architectures, document operational procedures, and conduct technical training.

What you'll bring

• 5+ years of operations experience with at least 3 years managing public cloud environments at scale, ideally with experience building cloud platforms from scratch or leading large-scale migrations.

• Deep expertise in either AWS or Alibaba Cloud core services (compute, storage, network, security) plus familiarity with the other platform.

• Strong Linux and Windows system operations skills with proficiency in automation using Shell, Python, or Ansible.

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, ECS/EKS, ACK, and cloud-native technologies including Service Mesh.

• Proven team leadership and communication abilities to collaborate across operations, development, testing, and security functions.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related discipline.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Alibaba Cloud ACP/ACE certifications.

• Experience with multi-cloud management platforms or FinOps cost optimization methods.

• Background in cloud security, WAF, DDoS protection, or big data operations.
