About the role
OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company focused on building safe, general-purpose artificial intelligence systems and ensuring their benefits reach everyone. The company develops and deploys AI products while maintaining safety and human needs at the center of everything it builds.
The Go To Market team is looking for a Business Development Manager to lead product partnerships across France and broader EMEA markets. Based in Paris or Munich on a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office, you'll own partnership strategy and execution for one of OpenAI's most critical markets while supporting international expansion efforts.
Your day-to-day work will involve
- Developing and executing the partnership strategy for France, managing the full cycle from sourcing deals through delivery while contributing to EMEA and international goals
- Building relationships with major strategic partners including enterprise software vendors, cloud providers, telcos, and government-aligned organizations across France and cross-border opportunities
- Negotiating and closing deals that span commercial terms, product scope, data and privacy considerations, brand alignment, incentives, and growth paths
- Managing senior partner relationships by establishing trust, developing joint value propositions, and handling complex negotiations
- Collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, GTM, Legal, and Policy teams to align on roadmaps and execute initiatives
- Applying deep knowledge of France and EMEA regional differences to guide partner selection and positioning, while remaining flexible for opportunities beyond France
- Setting success metrics and using data to track progress, identify risks, and report outcomes to leadership
You'll bring at least ten years of business development or product partnership experience in technology. Fluency in both English and French is essential. You have a track record closing high-impact local and international deals with major technology partners, including complex cross-border transactions. You understand France deeply and have operated successfully across multiple countries and markets. You're product-savvy enough to engage engineers credibly and influence product decisions. You communicate exceptionally well, negotiate skillfully, and carry strong executive presence. You're analytical, comfortable with data-driven decision-making, and thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where you work both independently and collaboratively while adapting quickly to new markets, verticals, and partnership types.
